How Phil Shappard has hindered Moody Radio and is wasting listeners donations

The Man is Back 8/20/07

As I was working in the Department of Production Services, Phil Shappard was installing RCS Master Control at all of Moody’s stations around the country. Well he was almost done and Wayne Pederson, V. P. of Broadcasting did not know what to do with him when he completed this task. Wayne tried to put him under the Chief Engineer since most of what Phil was doing could be considered engineering work. The chief engineer would have none of this. He made the recommendation in 2004 that RCS Master Control was not a reliable system and Phil Shappard pretty much had his opinions dismissed. Even if the Chief Engineer was in charge of Phil, Phil would inevitably “help” out in the engineering department while he was away on projects, and he would come back to what ever mess Phil made this time.

So on August 20, 2007, Wayne Pederson decided to create a new Department. The department of Online Audio and placed Phil Shappard as the Department Manager. He knew I left MBN Satellite Services because of Phil Shappard. I believe he thought I would walk off the job when I learned of this. He did not tell my boss, Chris, about it until about a week before he made the announcement. Fortunately I got a heads up and had the weekend to process it before the shocker was announced that Monday. I believe it was Wayne's intention to find a place to put Phil and to get rid of me because I had been the whistle blower about the RCS system not working.

I ended up taking a week off to decide what to do. I felt it was in my best interest as well as Moody’s to stay. If I had to suffer under an incompetent boss, then that would be worth it to preserve the historical audio of Moody for future generations. I did try to transfer back to my old boss Chris in the Department of Production Services, but Doug Hastings, the Division Manger and Phil’s boss would not allow it.

Doug Hastings, the Division Manager and Wayne Pederson, the V. P. of broadcasting had a meeting with me on September 19, 2007. This was almost a month after Phil was my boss and I was still hanging around. The following is a response to that meeting. I was basically told that if I do not cooperate and if I say anything negative about RCS Master Control, I would be fired. The writing in blue is my response to Doug about these demands.

I complied with Doug’s demands, but my respect for Phil had diminished to the point that I could not look him in the eye or even call him Phil. It was Mr. Shappard from now on. Doug called me on that as well....
